You walked with me, footprints in the sand
A young girl with short red hair, looked out to a vast lake. The scenery was truly beautiful, mountains in the distance with their frosted peaks. Great blossom trees loomed over the lake, scattering their petals in the whisper of the wind. A large gold temple was behind the girl, it’s shadow running across the lake. Her emerald eyes were taking in the greenery as a warm wind blew, causing her red blazer to blow with it. A symbol on her back, a circle with a cross within it, rippled with the fabric like water moving back in forth. Her black skirt was wrapped around her legs and her black shirt fell to her hips. She had her legs crossed, red heeled boots on her feet. She was sitting on a grassy hill, thinking to herself. She had been at the Academy for a while and had grown really close to her friends. One in particular.
And helped me understand where I’m going...
She heard footsteps behind her, she turned her head to see who it was. It was him, his dark eyes met with her emerald eyes. She looked away as he walked forward a bit. Seeing this he sat down next to her and looked out to the lake also. He was quite handsome, she couldn’t help thinking. His black hair shone brightly in the sun, his purple blazer flaring behind him with the wind. He wore a black shirt also, but wore black trousers and purple flat boots. He must have come to see if she was okay. She had left the team base, for some alone time as she put it.
You walked with me when I was all alone
“Maggie, what’s the matter?” he asked, his voice soft and gentle. He caught her by surprise when he spoke. She brushed some of her short hair behind her ear.
With so much unknown, along the way
“Carlos, do you have friends away from here?” she asked quietly.
And just when I thought I’d lost my way..
He let out a long sigh. “Not many, no. Why do you ask?” he said turning to me.
“Hm...” she murmered looking down.
“You know you can tell me anything, Maggie.”
You gave me strength to carry on
“See when I returned home, it was back to that place. Back to where I’m an outcast.” She brought her knees up to her chin and she leaned on them. “It’s horrid living somewhere you have no friends, where you’re considered a freak.” She closed her eyes. “I’ve just been thinking about it alot lately.”
“Hey, don’t think like that.” He sat closer to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “You’re no freak. Not to me anyway.”
Then I heard you say...
“I promise you, I’m always there.” He hugged her. “When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair. And I’ll carry you when you need a friend. You’ll find my footprints in the sand.”
She looked up at him again. Those words, almost like poetry, made her heart melt. Did he really care for her?
When I’m weary,
She placed her head on his shoulder, as her eyes returned to looking out to the beautiful scenery. The sun had began to set, it’s rich orange light flooding the land.
“Well I know you’ll be there, cause I can feel you.” She smiled slightly as she felt his head on hers. “When you say.”
“I promise you, I’m always there!” He lifted her head, and turned it to face him. “When your heart is filled with sadness and despair.” He brushed his hand gently on her cheek. “I’ll carry you when you need a friend, you’ll find my footprints in the sand.”
She leaned in and soon her lips touched his. He was a little shocked but he didn’t stop the kiss. Instead he kissed back. Such a soft kiss it was. The warmth of the setting sun set the scene around them as the wind began to blow again.
When your heart is full of sadness and despair, I’ll carry you! When you need a friend, I promise you. I’m always there when you need a friend.
She soon pulled out of the kiss and smiled warmly. He was blushing slightly but he returned the smile. She stood up and brushed down her black skirt and red blazer. He also got up, holding out his hand. She hesitated for a moment but took it. She blushed slightly as they began to walk back to the Academy. She couldn’t help but smile, she knew now no matter where she was she would have friends to support her. The sun’s light grew darker as they walked.
You’ll find my footprints in the sand...
